Emerging from his home at about 07:28, one resident was astounded at the speed of a black Ford Focus travelling towards Narborough. The brake lights did not appear to come on until after passing the entrance to the Greyhound Barns complex. Immediately after the black car rounded the turn at the Church Lane junction, a crash was heard. Running down the road, this picture was taken, within about 45 seconds of the incident.

The skid marks of the offending Ford Focus can clearly be seen well over the central white line.
