As the driver passes the signs indicating adult and child pedestrians and the second "SLOW" sign on the road surface the corner itself and the two chevron marker boards are clear to see.

It is now also clear that it is a completely blind bend, with no safe possibility to cut the corner and go over the white line in the centre of the road.

Less obvious, in this late spring view, are the deep trenches just beyond the verges on both sides of the road. These act as sumps, collecting rain water that drains to this point. In winter the trees around the junction help keep the sun off and allow the surface to freeze.
