The Escort driver was travelling alone. Damage to his car was sufficient that it could not be driven away. Fluid on the road at the point of impact suggests that the radiator had been ruptured.

Just after 20:00 a breakdown truck arrives, already laden with a car from another incident, and the Escort is taken away.
