Vehicles on the B1153 that turn right onto the East Winch Road often have to stop to allow traffic travelling towards Gayton to pass. Most stop by the long white line in the centre of the road, at the right hand edge of the picture. In that position the vehicle is out of sight of following traffic, hidden by the cottage on the bend immediately before the junction.

When the forerunner of this site was originally created, following the increase in traffic caused by the opening of the Adrian Flux Insurance offices at East Winch Hall, it was predicted that an accident like this would occur. Many staff there do not work "Nine to Five" and start work in the middle of the day.

It is at this "quiet" time that many drivers speed through the village. Cars frequently approach the bend by the cottage on the extreme right of the picture too fast to be able to stop should a car be stationary here. If it is stationary, it will be because its way is blocked by an approaching northbound vehicle, leading to an inevitable crash with either the stationary vehicle, the one heading north, or, indeed, both!
