Here is the huge expanse of tarmac for vehicles to use when making the turn into the East Winch Road, with pedestrians sqeezed onto the narrow footpath and hidden by the tall hedge behind them.

Why wasn't the kerb extended along the white line at the edge of the main road? Forcing cars to slow to make the turn and giving the opportunity for pedestrains to show themselves to oncoming vehicles before making the decision to cross has to make sense!
