The footpath between the East Winch Road and Church Lane junctions was very poorly maintained. Frequently, when heavy vehicles and tractors passed each other they rode up the verge and, at some points, was eroded almost out of existence.

In November 2005 the new footpath was constructed and now it is possible to walk two abreast and it even includes ramps at each end for wheelchair access
