Buckling to the driver's door, matching that seen on the near-side rear door in an earlier picture, confirms that this was a massive impact. The position of the car, and the wet road surface, suggests that it could have be spun round by the impact.

The damage to the Renault is mainly to the near-side front. This is not what you would expect had it been approaching from the south and making the turn to its right as it came past the Church Lane junction.
